Menopause Special Skills Course

Virtual courses to provide healthcare professionals with the key knowledge base for menopause care.

22nd & 23rd May 2024
2nd & 3rd October 2024

ONLINE  |  £495

We transferred this to an online course to provide education and training through the pandemic. We have listened to feedback and will continue in this format for greater accessibility.
This course will provide you with knowledge and confidence to advise and treat women before, during and after menopause within your working environment. It is aimed at healthcare professionals who work in the field of women’s health, including doctors, nurses, and pharmacists.

Why should I consider this course?

This course is suitable for doctors and other prescribing healthcare professionals who deliver women’s healthcare whether in primary care, sexual health, community or acute gynaecology settings.

The course material is NICE compliant, and evidence based. The format promotes discussion of how guidelines and recommendations can be applied to every day clinical practice. It is both pragmatic and practical in outlook.

You will be sent a list of resources to provide baseline information and enhance the experience.

The course is delivered live, not pre-recorded,and will respond to current news and hot topics. Speakers will summarise each subject area and delegates will be divided into workshop groups of no more than 10, plus a menopause expert. The group format will allow you to ask questions and discuss a variety of related clinical scenarios. This helps to apply the learning to practice and make sure you really understand.

The course will explain the evidence base and encourage a reflective and pragmatic approach using the format of interactive lectures followed immediately by a workshop on that subject. It will enhance the practice and clinical confidence of doctors and non-medical prescribers who are currently working in a setting that provides women’s health clinical advice. There will be discussions calling on your experience, and our advice is to join this course when working in this environment and not before.

This course will provide you with knowledge and confidence to advise and treat women before, during and after menopause within your working environment.

It will count towards the reaccreditation requirement of the Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) and provide evidence for professional revalidation.

The course covers the knowledge criteria of the new FSRH Menopause Care Professional Certificate (MCPC). Completion of the certificate will equip you to provide leadership within a practice/PCN, or work within an existing menopause service.

If you are inspired to do more, extended training can lead to a FSRH Menopause Care Professional Diploma (MCPD). This will require further experience and assessment at a higher level to accredit competence to provide expert advice or lead a specialist menopause service.
